The Breeze – October 2019 – Sponsorship Corner

Track the progress and keep up to date on the latest news from our Partner organisations.

Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom

We were holding onto our seats watching the last few laps of the Bathurst 1000 race. Having won the Bathurst 1000 last year with Craig Lowndes, Steve Richards was hoping to have the same success this year alongside Mark Winterbottom.

Frosty secured sixth place in the event over the weekend, for his 11th top 10 finish this season. We’ll be watching with bated breath at the Sandown 500 being held 8-10 November.

Parramatta Eels

After a tough year in 2018 which saw the Parramatta Eels finish as wooden spooners, they came back with a vengeance in 2019 to finish the regular season in 5th and ultimately make it all the way through to the semi-finals. It was a fantastic bounce back for the Eels and is a result we’re sure they will look to build in as they compete for the premiership next season.

Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar FC are back in action for the 2019/20 season. Holding their season opener in Perth on Sunday, 13th October against Perth Glory. Roar secured a dramatic 1-1 draw courtesy of a Roy O’Donovan header late in penalty time. They certainly kicked the season off with a bang, and they’ll be looking for the full 3 points when they host competition heavyweights Melbourne Victory at their home opener this Friday the 25th.

In other news, we’d like to congratulate Tom Aldred on his announcement as Captain for the side!

Finally, the Roar Women’s side are back into training for the Westfield W-League 2019/20 season, so please join us in sending good luck to all Roar teams for the season ahead.

Robert Whittaker

The battle of the year took place at Marvel Stadium Melbourne on Sunday 6th October. UFC 243 saw UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker lose his title to New Zealander Israel Adesanya in a Round 2 knock-out lasting 3:33mins.

The fight had been hyped up for months, with Whittaker in his best form. Unfortunately, a few tough blows saw Whittaker hand over his title in the second round.

In a post-fight interview, Rob spoke of his disappointment with the outcome saying “It is what it is.. sometimes you lose. It’s not just in fighting, it’s in everything”.  With those humble words, he’s still a champ in our eyes.

Perth Wildcats

Here’s some exciting news for you.. we’ve signed on as club partner for the Perth Wildcats, sponsoring player Mitch Norton. The Wildcats are the class of NBL, having made 33 straight post-season appearances (an accomplishment unmatched by any other professional sports team in Australia), and they’ve started the new season in red hot form, winning 3 from 4 games against Melbourne United and the Illawarra Hawks.

We look forward to working with Mitch and the team on some exciting projects in the year ahead.
