Eagle Raps – Ben’s Story

At ActronAir, we pride ourselves in supporting Eagle Raps as they give a fresh start to young lives. They started in 1997 to address youth suicide in the Blacktown area of NSW by providing a place for young people to seek assistance. They’ve since gone from strength to strength, now providing education programs for HSC and vocational courses that have assisted more than 2,000 locals.

Eagle Raps is responsible for many success stories and one such story is Ben’s.

Ben was 14 and suffering from social anxiety when Eagle Raps met him. He struggled at school socially but never academically. At Eagles, he began to feel comfortable in their unique accepting and caring environment.

At Eagles, Ben went on to complete his HSC; eventually becoming a leader and mentor at the school program and joining their committee as a Youth Liaison Delegate. He later completed a Certificate IV and Diploma in Community Services at Eagles.

In 2015, Ben took the huge step and enrolled into a degree in Social Work. Since then, he’s completed a Masters of Human Service and is now undertaking a graduate certificate in arts and social science research. Here he hopes to research socioeconomic realities and the impact they have on social welfare policy. This research aims to examine the systemic effects of social stigma and how these impact people’s opportunities from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Through all his achievements Ben is still a keen volunteer for every Eagles’ fundraising efforts, proving to be a great friend and a rare asset to the industry for a long time to come.

We congratulate you Ben on all of your achievements.
